.000 luminesence

It's finally time to start our discussion of The Organic God! Ready? Go!

In the introduction (.000 luminescence), our author writes about someone experiencing all of the wonder and energy and excitement of God as she first sees luminescence. Where have you seen God? What wonder in nature have you observed that made every cell within you feel completely alive and energized? Did this experience draw you closer to God?

Margaret Feinberg also gives us some guidance for Bible study alongside each chapter. (Check out the "rainy-day reflections" section of the book that begins on p. 195.) Read Genesis 9:8-16 and Revelation 4:1-11--they're right here for you.

  1. Earlier this month when I was driving home from vacation in Lake Tahoe, I got this surge of energy that Feinberg describes... I love rainbows. (I should! I grew up in RAINBOW City, Alabama--seriously!) I've seen them more often since I moved out west, sometimes from rain and sometimes in the mist of waterfalls. I love them all.

Well, driving home from Lake Tahoe, somewhere near Middle-of-Nowhere-Nevada, I saw a rainbow. I could only see one side of the bow off in the distance ahead of me. Within a couple of minutes, I was INSIDE the rainbow! The yellow was outside my passenger side window and red outside the driver side window! I had no idea that you could drive THROUGH a rainbow...until I did it! It was just magical!

If you read the scripture references above, you read about rainbows as symbols of covenant. I am grateful that I drove through a rainbow earlier this month. I take it as a sign of God's promise fulfilled. In answering a call to ministry, in moving across the country, in stepping out on faith, I put huge amounts of trust in God. God didn't let me down, and my rainbow reminded me to be grateful for God's follow through on those promises...just as God followed through for Noah.

It was wonderfully life-giving to be right in the center of nature's miracle bow of color and a gift to have a colorful reminder of God's presence and faithfulness in my life.

  2. About the same time you where in Tahoe, I was at a baseball game, that should of been cancelled due to rain, trying to keep a 5 year old I don't know very well warm in my blanket. A huge rainbow appeared in front of us and I just couldn't help but make sure the child knew that rainbow was sent from God to tell us how much he love us. I love Rainbows!!!!

  3. The last rainbow I saw was one that encircled the sky like a halo around the sun. It was amazing. I definitely felt the presence of god shinning down on me. Sunrises do the same thing for me too.

  4. I have had some amazing expirences and feelings sleeping outside on the trapoline looking at the stars. I can feel Gods power and presence and feel the vastness that exsists all around and the recognition that God is mindful of us. I also feel at peace when I see and take time to enjoy sunsets. When on a walk seeing the beauty around, feeling and enjoying the rain, the snow storm with the big fluffy flakes, the fall leaves, the spring buds, the flowers, the birds, I feel Gods love in all these things : )
